looking at a new group buy for the m95 Steyr, and it has some terms I’m not familiar with :

“running 2 cavity, 4 cavity, 5 cavity, RG2 and RG4 (HP and FN and Cup pins) Aluminum.
And RG2 cavity Brass, GC or PB. We will offer mixed GC and PB in 2 cavity, 4 cavity RG2 and RG4
      moulds only “

      What is “RG2″…”RG4” …????

It stands for removable guide. Notice if you will, the HP molds have either two or four pins that make the hollow points. They run on small slotted rails screwed to the bottom of one of the blocks. This is the “RG”.
Any mold with an RG is a hollow point mold.

Beagle likes to show off his collection of beautiful brass molds (and exceptional photography skills).  And, I enjoy ’em!  He’s a valuable contributor to the forum.  Thanks again, Beagle!

                  Thanks for the information !!!

Add on question –  “blank pins” for a RG2 or RG4 mould  ->    I assume this means these would be used to make the bullet NON-hollow point…?

No, that means long, unturned pins that you can shape into any HP that you want. See the two pins lying on the left. They are still blanks and haven’t been turned.
You get the flat point pins (they are shorter, to be even with the flat nose of the boolit) with every HP mold anyway, but you pay extra for however many blanks you want.
My flat point pins are not shown with this mold.
                    Picture102_zps2be9d03f.jpg

Here’s one with two flat points and 4 blanks.
Actually…… this is the mold pictured above before the blanks were turned into different HP pins.

the original meaning of the RG was an omage to “rube goldburg” and Al’s horrible first rendition of what a multi cav hp mould should be.

This is what I heard it meant. I seem to remember a post by Al that said this a while ago.

Swede, It would be great to search for RG molds per caliber rather than scrolling through the list.

I have always preferred the Rube Goldberg appelation but have come to accept removable guide as the correct terminology. Now, if Al could come up with a design for a dual side removable guide mould, THAT would truly be Rube Goldberg!  LOL, TJ

PS: Al, I eagerly anticipate design drawings and photos of a “working” prototype.

Just for info the removable guide pins method can also be used to make hollow based moulds as well as hollow point moulds, obviously these will be nose pours as opposed to base pour moulds.
