I found this design interesting:

Bullet: 105 grain Double Ended Wadcutter

Target Firearms: .38/.357 target/plinking round. With minimal recoil. Comparable to a .22 long rifle.

How about a Double Ended Wadcutter Group Buy where one cherry design is orbited out to.. I don’t know maybe:

.38 @.360
.41 @.412
.44 @.432
.45 @.454

Length would be the same on all, but diameters could be whatever is decided on. Ought to make the minimum order requirements to acquire the cherry a cinch?

Just a thought. Not sure its feasible, but that’s what the Discussion area is for.

I like single lube groove designs and double ended sounds sweet. To use the crimp groove during reloading is a choice. Better to have, and not need, than to need, and not have?

Anyway, that’s my Group Buy thought for the Weekend.

If this is doable I’m in for probably:
.38 @.360 — two 4 cavity aluminum
.41 @.412 — one 3 cavity aluminum
.44 @.432 — one 4 cavity aluminum
.45 @.454 — one 4 cavity aluminum

Depends on what we come up with in the end

After further discussion with Al, we have reverted the group buy to the original design. For those of you who really like the second design, we will try to run those at a future date. So big lube groove it is!

…To be the same on both ends, of course!

It just makes it so that it doesn’t matter which way the projectile is seated (unless you care about where the sprue cut is).
Minor advantage for normal reloading processes.
Much more advantageous when loading in volume, and especially if using automated processes.

Otherwise… Some people just like symmetrical bullets.
I’m in that group. If it isn’t a hollow-base wadcutter, it might as well be the same on both ends.

Lever: Only if it’ll feed empties. I tune my lever guns to do so, but most stock levers will not.

.458 SOCOM? Highly unlikely.
Had one. Upgraded to .475 Tremor (.458 SOCOM necked up). Not a chance in … Well, not a chance in my SOCOM or Tremor.

I would say no on both if they are in stock configuration. Revolvers or single shots only would be my guess

We’re saying that the 45 DE wadcutter will have a weight as such :

.454 cal = 167 gr. (From a previous post)

Might want to give Al a call to find out about that one. I think they’ve started production of the current molds–or are close to making them.

Looks like the buy thread for these went to ‘Closed’ today. (Was in Last Call for a while.)

So, I’d say there’s no chance on this buy.
It also would have been a very stumpy bullet.

But, you can always open a discussion about a .480 wadcutter to see how many others would be interested.
I would consider one; but I already have three .476/.477 molds here for my .480 and a .475 wildcat rifle cartridge, that have never dropped a single bullet. So, I might be a hard sell.
