Al has supplied a preliminary drawing that closely approximates a bullet I’ve swaged for more than 30 years.
It is a beast from the 38 snubbie revolver, performing all out of proportion. It has to be seen to be appreciated, combining DEEP penetration with a massive permanent wound channel when soft lead is used at velocities in the 700 FPS range.

The design has obvious uses with different alloys in many cartridges, and applications, but my focus here is specifically to have a mold for the best thing I’ve seen (performance-wise) from the hide-out 38 Special.
Be fore-warned, it will print high from the typical “pocket gun”, but that’s irrelevant for it’s intended purpose.

fyi, these bullet molds have been run… I just picked up mine the other day.  Anybody have some load data for these guys?  I’m thinking casting with soft lead/tin for some expansion at the lower velocities.  I have a gel block I can shoot them into for testing, but trying to figure out some loads.

            I have Quickload…
If you tell me what powders that you have an excess of, & might want to consider using I will look and see.
I also believe that Lyman Cast Bullets has a 200 grain round nose set of load data… for the 38 Special.
That can also be tweaked with quickload for the Snubbie Heavyweight seating depth… at the crimp grove.
Finally I also subscribe to Load Data so that website set of Wolfe Publishing Editors loads can possibly be accessed.
I Can PM you or you can me if you so choose…

            So what tickles your fancy…

I have lots of powders available.  Probably just pick the ones that seem like they would be best.  Unique, red dot, etc…

                Ok
I will look at Unique & Red Dot first….
I will also look and copy what is in the Lyman Cast Bullet manuals that I have to corroborate QuickLoad…
Finally I can do a quick search on Load Data to see what might already be invented…
No sense reinventing the wheel… if it is already invented…
I’ll look see in the AM and PM You…
I still having trouble posting attachments of any size on the forum… so I may funnel them though for your review & posting… as you see fit…
                If you don’t mind…

I Have cast up & loaded a goodly number into 38 Special cartridge cases and they fit into my 357s very nicely when crimped at that cast bullets crimp groove.
The locals have an annual snubbie shoot coming up after the first, so it will get unveiled to the members at that time.
That’s depending on whether the state once again shuts down the outdoor ranges once again, or not as non essential businesses…
Not all of us have private ranges in our back yards…

Ok, did a video on this bullet.  I love it in the levergun for sure.  I hope to be able to edit some more video footage and kick out the gel test video.

Looking forward to seeing that ballistic gel video.
The HP’s run slick as you can possibly want through my Marlin Rifle…
I just ordered a second mould so that I could leave that one setup for flat points too.
QuickDesign predicts a 207 Gr cast bullet with the flat pins… with wheelweight alloy.

Interesting and very telling gel test results… especially on the HP expansion intel side…
