I have a Lee custom heeled, HB, TL mold that I got from HarryO and he might have designed it.  I can provide sample boolits if someone wants to post dimensions – I don’t trust my measurements for something like this.  I would like to get this in at least a two cavity, but I question if there are 10 people here shooting the 41Colt!  I don’t even know if Swede can do this, it is a nose pour design with a hollow base.

You increased the length of the heel from .234 to .250.  This lengthening the heel is unnecessary and shortens the bearing length of the boolit.  This is the problem with most heeled boolits I have seen, too much heel and not enough bearing length.  If changing the HB requires this change it back!  I want to maximize bearing length with any heeled boolit.  I’m concerned less about weight – there is minimal data for this cartridge anyway so we need to be conservative in loading.  A couple grains weight one way or the other is way less important in my opinion.

Done – it can be shorter if needs be.

I hope some of the other guys pipe up here.  I generally prefer the heel and the bearing length to be roughly the same.  If you look at the .22LR there is very little heel, all I need is enough to crimp with the modified Lee die.

However, come to think of it, for me the total length of the boolit outside the case needs to be the same as the ones I sent you.  My cases are cut for that length boolit and so is the crimp die.  That is actually the more critical dimension than the length of the heel.

I did some measuring, and please check this as the battery on my caliper is almost dead.  I get a boolet length above the heel on my (the ones I sent you) boolits of .833″.  This is maximum for me, as my brass is trimmed to 1.13″ and those two fully fill the cylinder of my Cimmaron Lightning.

Currently I get .722-.225=.497 on your current design for bullet length above the heel.  My bullet weight is 212gr, but I only measured one.  They generally run 211-213gr.
