      Something like this with a .18 metplat, .9 total length with .4 long nose for easy cycling. Can be hollow pointed too!

          Hey cornmastah would this work in an AR in .300 blackout? I’m sure there would be alot of takers if it did but I don’t have any experience with the blackout or an AR for that matter.

            The bullet is longer and the nose is short, that means more of the bullet would be inside the case.  You’d have to seat it deep, limiting the case capacity.  Not saying it can’t work, but might not be ideal.  The 30-30 on the other hand has a longer neck to hold more of the bullet.

              Hhmmm. What if we increased the nose length to .49-50 and with a fatter nose kind of like the rcbs 195 copy. http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/images/N.O.E._Bullet_Moulds_311-195-FN_(GC)_Sketch.Jpg
              That would bring abit more weight up front and might make it more useful for different cartridges as not so much of the bullet will be in the case. I will buy 2 of these molds if it gets made, One RG4 hollowpoint with gas check shank and one plainbased in 5 cav.

                  Make it lighter. I like the style. 150 grains. Hollow point at 140. Both should expand with 50/50 Wheel weight.

                  Look at a proven spire point HTC 30 cal and make it a flat nose.

                    I would really prefer a 170gn with the solid nose. Maybe meet me halfway at 160gn? I think it would be pretty close to 145/150gn when hollowpointed with a deep pin which is what I am after. Someone with the magic program to draw it?

                      I’m still trying to think of a good design for it.  What speeds are you looking to shoot it at?

                          I’ll be looking to shoot them at 2000+ with gas checks and about 1500fps plain based.

                            I like the nose on both of these just need to make the shank shorter to bring it to 170gns. The rcbs copy chambers perfectly in my 94 when crimped in the top groove. I think the Lyman copy 185gn nose shape is pretty similar to the 177 spire point with the end clipped off.

                              does the bore riding section prevent chambering when powder coated?

                                It hasn’t for me with three layers of hi-tech coating but I have a feeling that hi-tech is not as thick as powdercoat.  But I’ve never tried powdercoating so I don’t know for sure.
