              Hi,

Was there any grease groove option with this mold, thought there was going to be?

No grease groove on this one, but a crimp groove is there for the 45-70 shooters.  This one is designed for powder coating.

                    Regards

I stopped by the shop today.  Al said they are still cranking away at the group buys.  No ETA right now.

Ok guys, I stopped by the NOE shop yesterday and picked up the proof mold (the first cut mold from the tooling).  I told Al that I was worried about the nose being a little long for the leverguns and that I wanted to test out the proof mold and throw it in a few 45-70 cases before cutting all the rest.  That way I could verify that it was working how we designed it to.  I cast up a few handfuls of bullets from the proof mold, powder coated them, and then sized them to .459.  I threw a few into some 45-70 cases, and a few into some 458 socom cases.  It looks like in the socom, we can seat it out a little farther than what I originally thought.  In the 45-70, I trimmed the brass to trim length (2.095″) and seated the bullets to the crimp groove and crimped them in.  It was close, but the bullets cycled in my Marlin 1895 Cowboy (long barrel) as well as my 1895 SBL.  I did not have any other leverguns from other manufacturers to test it in.  And obviously they fit in the BFR as well as the single shot Encore and HandiRifle.  I called Al to give him the “go ahead” to cut the molds for us.  I will try to post a video today of the bullets and hand cycling them.  As a side note, in the 458 socom, I was able to cycle them in the AR using a regular aluminum plain jane mag.

I think this bullet is going to be my “go to light weight” melon/milk jug smasher–and should be killer with that hollow point.  I can’t wait to get my molds and get casting/loading/shooting with em.  The RG in the socom should be a blast–It will be my first hollow point mold and bullet in the socom.
