I do not own a specific mold for just powder coating yet. They sure do look awesome, and from what I’ve read are functioning just as good.
I have a 502-700 grain mold for my 500 magnum and wondered if there was enough interest in a real long heavy maxed out bullet with the option of a super deep hollow point.  Crimp groove only plain base. Possibly even with a single cavity brass option.
More of a novelty for bowling pin night but just something different I thought could be a fun one.
What do you ladies and gentlemen think?

Ok. I am for warning you my friend. I am not an artist so I do apologize for my crude drawing. I was laughing at my version of your awesome software. I do hope that it relays the right information though. I also took a few close ups of the cast boolits. All are powder coated. Clear, green or red.
I did not have any that were not run through my .501 sizer, so that’s something else to consider. I forgot about that until this morning. I always have them ready for loading so they are all sized for function. Not sure if that changes your measurements.
What I have is a different in the clear, green and red powder coated colors also to add to the mix of variables.

From the front band = .501
        Then just passed the front band = ( clear= .492 , red= .496 , green= .496 )
Then kept this diameter for right about .435
At this point is tapers slightly and not drastically to a flat point right about .454
maybe the drawing with show what I mean.

Ok, so I am thinking it looks good enough for me.  Next question:  gas check or no gas check?

I would prefer a plain base version. I have had no issues with the powder coated or traditional lubed boolits using the Felix recipe from this website. All functioned without any signs of leading, so for my needs, that’s perfect. I also have the option of making pop can gas checks with pat marlins check maker, but again, I’ve just not seen a need. The powder coating holds so well. Others may want that option though.

yeah, sounds good to me.  Now we just need to find more 500 S&W casters/shooters.

Agreed. I hope I did not break protocol but I sent an email to a past buyer from the 502 swc hp series. Maybe they would also be interested. Do we need 5 or 10 sign ups for a run?

We can start the group buy with a few people, but to get a new design run at the shop, we need 10 min.

If we can get one or two more guys to post here that they are interested, I can go ahead and make the group buy official.

I also think a cup point pin would be nice.

Maybe some folks would like that option. I’m still hoping we get a few more interested in the idea to get the ball rolling.
For me I’m more interested in the super mega pin and the other deep pin. I already have a great single cavity flat point that drops great boolits.
I’m thinking of getting a 500 katahdin barrel for my pro hunter and play with that also.
Side question… I have never tried the 458 socom. I liked your videos and wondered how the recoil was with those subs in your last range video? Quite a hunk of lead throwing down range there.

Recoil wasn’t bad at all.  The suppressor really takes out a bunch of the recoil, but, as you can see from the video… the recoil still exists.  More recoil than a 5.56, but less than a regular bolt gun 30-06 I think.

But yeah, the cup point pin would make it nice for people who don’t already have a big heavy bullet for the 500 mag–it would give them several options.

The best I can offer this project is if he decides to make brass RG style singles, I’ll take 2. Then I can have each set up I’m looking for versus just the one RG double mold.
I thought for sure we would of had a few others interested. Lots of other items to play with of course but this one would have been something to talk about I think at the next water cooler chat.

I’m trying to get a couple friends onboard with this one.  It seems like a very unique mold, and I know it would be fun to experiment with–especially with the multiple HP pin options

Group buy is live, only going to run it in RG2 and RG4 configurations.
