Designed for the 45 Auto Rim, should also be fine in a 45 Colt. Original is a gas check design, which might be the key to it’s claim to be extra accurate in guns with over-sized throats.

Read an article today in Handguns magazine on the new Ruger Redhawk 45 ACP/Colt. This 452491 would be ideal in the new Redhawk using 45ACP brass off of moon clips.
Its been a few years but nearly all 452491’s I cast were loaded in 45 Auto Rim brass. Shot nearly all of them in a S&W 25-2. With loads of Bullseye between 4-5 grs it printed pretty clusters. 4.5 was the most accurate. I cast them using a hard and rich alloy. I imagine casting them pure or near pure for expansion with the huge medplat, would make a terrific SD load.
I also shot a couple hundred or so in two Brazilian 1917’s. One of the 1917’s had a worn bore with a good sized pit near the muzzle and it still shot good. I traded the 1917 with the bad bore away to a young guy that wanted it for a project. My other 1917 has a smooth but worn bore. The 452491 and the 225 gr SAECO button nosed wadcutter are the only home cast I’ve tried that engaged the worn rifling as well as a FMJ. Other 45 cal castings didn’t shoot worth a hoot.
I also shot some of the 452491’s in a 1911 and a Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt. During that time I was going through chemo therapy, stem cell harvest and transplant. I know it sounds foolish but my mind was a bit fuzzy at the time. I just can’t recall much. I do recall the seating depth being critical loading the 452491 in ACP to shoot in my 1911. After seating them deep in ACP brass. It flowed through my Remington 1911 like a hot knife through butter.
I can pretty well assure you, you will be pleased with the 452491 and encourage you to get involved with the group buy. It shot better than a batch of some commercial cast 200 gr H&G’s and I also recall it doing well in my 45 Colt Blackhawk.

Hey guys please help me keep the thread alive and near top on the Cast Boolit board. We need to draw attention, generate enough interest and get as many possible signing on to get this scheduled for production.
