Any interest in NOE offering an .25 cal. RCBS like 80-85 g boolit with smaller lube grooves with the WFN?
This should be a good replacement for those hunting small edible game at slower speeds or faster speed for others.
      Thanks!
      Jim

I’d take one, especially if I could get it in brass.

Al – How much of a reduction did we get in the lube groove width and depth? The ones in your drawing look to be just about the same as those on the RCBS bullet. I believe the depth on the original RCBS is considered by many 25-20 shooters to be a design flaw in that it holds too much lube, contributing to fliers. There is some very good discussion on this over on the Marlin Owners Website on the 25-20 Reloaders thread by 35Rem (who seems to be our local 25-20 expert on the Cast Boolits site). Eric – At Hollow Point Mold Service performs a modification on the RCBS mold – Reducing the lube groove to half of it’s original depth.  Like the wide meplate.

I think it could be improved with 3 smaller grooves
and keep the weight the same

Could lube as many grooves as it needs (1, 2 or 3)

The new forum looks Great!!! I wasn’t aware it was around, but I am now…
Congrats and Good luck with everything…

What size mold are we thinking here (# of cavities)? And will it be iron or alum?
I’d be interested in one if its maybe 4 cavity or so. Do you know a price yet?

                          Thanks

For reasons having to do with the desirability of thicker bands, and having to do with a distinct identity that is less similar to what has already been produced, I’d like to stick to two narrower (and shallower) lube grooves. Does not matter if weight goes up a little as length will be the same. I am after less lube contact area and a stronger bullet.

A thicker base band going toward the 260283 is appealing. This has meplat advantages over that bullet and would be shorter so no duplication there. Should stabilize at fairly slow speeds even in 1-14, and I’m looking for low to high velocity capability. Would also be interested if I could get mixed GC and PB cavities in the same mould block.

I’d be interested in this… (shallower lube groove design)….
                                    4 cavity all gascheck.

The original RCBS did have way too much lube capacity. Probably was designed for black powder.
