                          Zthomps,

Ranch Dog designed this slug originally as a .457″ diameter to be used in oversized Taurus bores.  The downsizing to .452″ and the addition of the roll crimp groove have all been instituted as part of this group buy, so in effect, we’re the guinea pigs.

                          That said, three things:

                          1.  The nose profile on this bullet is very similar to the LBT 230 LFN, which feeds with insane slickness in the half-dozen or so 1911 variants I’ve tried it in.  Length is about the same, as is the meplat.  The main difference as far as the gun is concerned will be that the Ranch Dog is slightly rounded off at the edges of the meplat, which will help feeding, if anything.  This thing’s contoured about like a Federal HST, Winchester SXT, or second generation Hydra Shok. Should run fine.

                          2.  This will be the fourth Ranch Dog autoloader design I’ll have brought home.  The man does his homework on cartridge dimensions.  (Read the launch of this one over in the RD discussion threads section of the forum)

                          3.  I’m after this bullet because I loved the LBT but wanted a tumble lube version.  I arrived at the LBT after a lengthy science project of figuring out what it took to get the rather ridiculous-for-autos 452423 (.34 caliber meplat SWC)  in 1911’s – incuding an unlatered GI.  Surprisingly, wasn’t that hard.  Learned a lot about how a 1911 feeds in the process.  Have every confidence in this one.

Basically, seat it as long as you can in your magazines to still allow comfortable loading to full capacity, taper crimp to spec, and your Kimber should run like a top.
