TLC359-190-RF (35Rem & 356Win) Checking interest in some more Ranch Dog bullets What do you say? Post a “I want ” and will get them worked in 10 or so interested and will GO!
I have zero experience with tumble lubed cast bullets. All my bullets have been sized and lubed in what I’ll call the conventional method. I believe that I understand the tumble lube method, size then tumble lube three or four times load shoot. I just didn’t like the other mould manufactures bullet profiles. My question is if it turns out I’m less than enthusiastic about tumble lubing can I size and lube the old fashion way. The grease volume for the SC-359-190-RF is listed as .017cc in it’s drawing and the TLC-359-190-RF is listed as .0112 cc or about 30% less. If this is doable I would be willing to broaden my experience and try a RG4 in my Contender and Model 14. Any opinions out there?
David, I have been using the RD designs for several different calibers. His designs are exactly what I would design IF the know how was there. When I first started casting I used a lyman single cavity but used the tumble lube method. (cheap skate) Then I started buying the Lee TL designs, I don’t try to wring out every last fps and do not have leading problems. Since 1 year ago I switched to the liquid alox /johnsons wax mix from the cast boolits forum . It appears to add a little more hardness to the lube and reduces tackiness when dried
Awesome boolit, I have a RD/Lee mould of this design and it is one awesome boolit. I’ve flattened a few tough old hogs and a few deer with a HT’d boolit from this mould. DRT percentages right up there with Michael’s 460-350, in my experience. If I can get this rifle shooting again I’ll upgrade to a 4-cav GC AL.
I’ll take a GC, solid nose in a 2 cavity brass mold, either a TL model OR std lube grooves (prefer latter). I sure hope it will cast a .360 bullet. Does anyone know if the last run did?
Sorry guys. I’m gonna have to sit this one out. The bore in question slugged a bit big for me to be comfy with a .359.
I did, however, learn something potentially useful: The .364-200RN that I bought a couple years ago for my .38S&W Webley MKIV (also available now as a .360), looks like it might be highly compatible with the .35 Remington for those seeking a plain-base plinker. The base to crimp groove length is just about perfect for the .35 Rem’s neck.
Mine sized nicely to the .361″ this gun seems to want. Will let you know how they shoot in a week or two.
Big Slug, I sure hope it will drop a .360 bullet. I looked at that 305 200 for the S&W. The CG to base looks like it will end up with the base quite a bit below the base of the neck? If I’m reading it right it’s .375!
