One of my favorite light-weight choices for .458 rifles is the RCBS 45-300 FN. Sadly, it’s only available from RCBS in a 2 cav, it’s only offered in gas-check design, and it often casts too small using alloys with minimal tin content.
Since you really “need” a light-weight offering wth a standard grease groove, Al… How about considering a version of this bullet that throws .460 with less tin-rich alloys, has PB and GC options, and is a perfect candidate for RG cup-nose and hollow-points???
I’ll even offer to test any prototypes free of charge… indefinitely.  :)

This one has been on here since June 2014. I think it is safe to say it isn’t going anywhere.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you. Twelve or more people have expressed an interest in this bullet design, and there hasn’t even been a drawing or specifications listed for this one yet. Imagine what would happen if there was a drawing with specs listed.

Also, keep in mind that the Ranch Dog tumble lube/gas check 9mm bullet discussion started on May 31st, 2014, before this one, and Al started an Active Group Buy for it on June 2nd, 2015. When only 6 people had signed up for it, Al moved it to Last Call status on June 12th.

        There’s still hope!

i am still in for one. it just doesnt seem like it isnt ever going anywhere.

Does anyone have a sample of the RCBS 45-300-FN (#82051), or the RCBS 45-325-FN (#82045) they could send to Al to get this one rolling?

Take a look and see if this is close to what you want

This is loosely based on a RanchDog RF.

I’m in for a 4 or 5 cavity 460-315 RF (GC) mould when they are available.

                        Al,

Thanks for doing the drawing and specs! It looks good to me.

I’d like a 2 cavity gas check, with hollow point pins, in brass.

The 310 solid looks good 2 me.  Looks like a prospect for sizing down to .454 for the Casull.  Don’t need the HP that light.  2GC, 2PB, solid, ALUM

I’d like a smaller HP. I can’t imagine anything short of exploding beer cans that needs such an aggressive cavity… maybe somewhere in the 300 gr weight range HPed.
I love the cup-nose punches Al has been including for the RGs, and use them almost exclusively in several moulds. I’m assuming the same will happen here.
I’m in as soon as we go active.

                              Thanks for the help, Al.

I really liked the originally proposed idea of a hollow point that was about 300gr. I was going to order an extra set of blank pins to make a hollow point somewhere in the 295gr to 300gr weight range for mine. If a shorter set of hollow point pins, or cup point pins were offered instead, I’d be happy with that arrangement.

We have made it a standard to furnish HP, FN and cup point pins
So we will be doing the same on this one.
Will get a group buy thread go as soon as I can
