This is the great JD Jones designed bullet which SSK sold and NEI manufactured molds for. It went to Africa and Alaska with JD Jones and the late Larry Kelly (founder of MagNaPort). JD sold the stock of molds to Peter Pi of Corbon never to be seen again. This is a very accurate bullet with great penetration and needs to be brought back. JD also produced 220gr, 260gr and a 350gr GC version. I would love to see the 220, 260gr and 310gr molds brought back again in a .430+ dia PB.
      Would anybody else be interested?

I also would be in on a GB for this one.  I have used the 310gr. in my Contender at near max loads and wow! what a handful.  It sure did the job though!

I guess I’d like to see it on paper first 310 running a little heavier than normal.that’s not to say it’s not good for what it does just a bit heavy for me

I would be interested in the 270-280 range. I’ll keep an eye out for any progress on this discussion. :)

I can’t believe there is no more interest in this great line of bullets!

Just as an FYI, I have an SSK 429-310 4-cav and it runs heavier than 310.  Way heavier, like nearly 340 grains with wheelweights.  I have read they were designed around Linotype.
                Just letting everyone know.

Barry, do you have the dual crimp groove model? Or possibly the gas check 250gr model? I had a dual crimp groove model one which cast that heavy. Too heavy for a revolver.
My 310 mold casts at 317gr from an alloy of 9ww to 1 50/50 solder.

Mine is plain based, and I think it only has one crimp groove but will have to check to be sure.  It’s not much of a crimp groove, that’s for sure.

Clip on WW or stick on? Stick ons are mostly lead

                        Sorry, clip on.
And mine has a single crimp groove.

Doing some more research on the SSK bullets, there were MANY versions of 44 bullets, including PB, GC and BB, with one crimp groove and 2 crimp grooves. Weights varied quite a bit also. In one of Glen Fryxell’s articles he claims the bullets were meant to be cast of linotype, which would explain the heavier weights, on the 429 – 310 mould, using other alloys.
I’d really like to know the correct mould # for the 260gr (270? 280?) version as I would really like one of these.

I would like multiple crimp grooves, 290-310 gr with 50/50. ;D

Any updates?  I would like to see a double crimp groove and somewhere in the vicinity of 300 gr. with WW.  Here’s to hoping this one survives.

Joined the forum to toss my name in the hat for the 310 bullet.  Used to run it in my contender.

                                Any updates to the effort?

Got samples from Mriman and Irascible – thanks!

                                  Working on a drawing now.
Does any one have a dual crimp groove version I can get samples from?

I have some of the dual crimp groove that I’ll send out to you.  I see from one of the previous messages to wrap them in tissue paper and send them to your address.
