::Last year I started working on reloading references for the NOE bullet designs, it has gone slower than expected because of the limits of my time but also because I needed to come up with templates that would make the Load Note sheets consistent across all the types of designs and contain as much information as possible for the bullet caster. Al and I think that we have a good format that addresses as many considerations as possible when generating the data so it is time to get started. A quick look at his store’s pages confirms exactly what an undertaking this will be so rather than work from A to Z, I thought I would ask as to what the immediate need of NOE’s customer base is concerning the information to get your bullets out the barrel.
In order to understand how the suggested loads are generated and how the pages are formatted, please read: Pressure Notes.
Here is what the formatted Load Note pages look like and how the information is presented: 378-275 H&H Mag
If you recommend a bullet design, please include what cartridge you using with the design.

DOH! Sorry about that, 45-70 please. I was thinking it, but didn’t type it. Will be mostly shooting it out of my trapdoor and rollingblock.

::Hey guys, I just purchased a 432-290-FN 432640 mold and was wondering if you might be able to provide me with a suitable load for that 44rem mag bullet. The powders I use currently for that round are IMR4227 and H110… The round itself is for my Marlin 1894 rifle that seems to have the oversized barrel… But that’s another story. Anyways, thanks in advance!

I’ve worked with the data for this bullet with the 444 Marlin, and I’m not sure if it was designed for carbine or rifle use. It has a long nose that doesn’t work well for the 444 Marlin, and after spending 2 hours with it this morning, the same can be said with the 44 Mag. So that crimp groove and cartridge mouth meet within the confines of the 1.610″ Max cartridge OAL of the 44 Mag, the brass must be trimmed quite far back. I’ve owned an 1894 44 Mag for a long time and know that it is very unforgiving of cartridge OALs that exceed the max.
I’ve calculated the change in case capacity that comes with the trimming and then ran the data. Both your powders choices were in the data run results. Whenever cases are trimmed this far back there are other consequences that appear such as not being able to apply a crimp. Additionally, the brass gets thicker the further back it is trimmed so the cartridge might not chamber. Please cycle a couple of dummy cartridges through the action and chamber to ensure this will work before you begin your reloading effort.
Best of luck, use of the data is at your own risk.

Just a reminder, I usually only generate one Load Note sheet a day.
Check at http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/data to see if the notes you are looking for are posted. If not, make a specific request via a post using the bullet ID profile and cartridge, and it will be added to the list. Custom data; specific powder requests, cartridges not in my database, and bores not within .003″ of the bullet’s design diameter, cannot be provided. Data is generated within the confines of templates; please see any Load Notes as a sample of what can be provided.

Swede Nelson and I discussed the 432-290-RF, a bullet designed for 44 Mag revolvers with long cylinders. The nose is inappropriate for the 44 Mag and 444 Marlin long-guns. If you have purchased this mold for use in the 1894, please contact NOE and he will figure out what you need. I have pulled the data on this design.

::Excellent guys! I was at the range yesterday testing out some loads with a 1.700 length and had issues with feeding. So, went home and setup a dummy round at a length of 1.605 and it cycled flawlessly. Now to try out complete rounds at the range later on this week. I must admit though, my groupings with that 1894 marlin went from 4.5-5″ down to 1.5 with the new 290gr 432 bullet. I’m definitely sold and it shows that the 1894 marlin (post remlin) requires larger diameter bullets!
Additionally, just looked at the notes and I’ll make sure my cartridge length falls within the values spec’d in the notes.
Thanks for the help!

::I will get Birgen’s next request out tomorrow but it will be about two weeks before I can fill others. Swede gave me a list of bullets he would like data for and I’m going to need to work on it. Go ahead and list your request and I will fill them as soon as I can.

Update!Hi Ranchdog,
Thanks for the 150gr RF/.308win data sheet. Do you also have the 200gr RN/.308win data sheet available like you mentioned?
Thanks,

Participant::Good evening, first I would like to thank you profusely, for doing these workups! They are tremendously helpful in choosing powders to begin load development.
Now a request, the NOE 360200fn (rcbs) in the 35rem. I’m shooting it in a rem 141 and it shoots great. Mine runs 224 gr in my alloy so it would be great to see what the software says about it. Especially AA4064, rl7 , and lvrevolution if its in the data base.
Anyway thanks for all your effort!2017-07-25 at 12:37 #503769 -
