      Based on the initial discussion in the thread below, I am looking for interested parties to fill the list for a NOE buy if possible.

      100gn.
      Plainbase.
      No lube groove for powder coating.
      RN/spitzer type for feeding in semiautomatic.
      Specs outlined, but not finished (true cast bullet drawing and .223/Wylde chamber consideration appreciated).

      This is a jacketed 100gn that I extrapolated some rough measurements from:

        Meh, we can probably leave that one out.  It is a black powder substitute which is non-corrosive.  It would probably be too fast and not hold pressure at the gas port.

          its non corrosive but still dirty compared to most smokeless powders and like black powder it explodes it doesn’t burn so I don’t know how an ar would react to it.

                I have some VHT Epoxy paint left. It worked on 75gr bullets with gas checks. Going to try it on some of these to see how they work.

                  If you are sizing after coating, I highly recommend sizing in steps and using lube.

                    I’m running them through a .226″ sizer so it shouldn’t be too bad.

                        The only other comment I had at this point is about the reduced springs trying to get the ar to cycle. I went through that with the 300 blk; in one scenario I got a weaker spring and in another I clipped down a spring. I could get the case to eject and the bolt to engage the top bullet from the magazine but there wasn’t enough “ommph” (that’s the technical term) to push it into the chamber, much less close the chamber completely. So it was take a shot, pull back the bolt, release it to get the next round in then take a shot, repeat as necessary.
                        So if anyone gets something like that to work, let us know. My solution was to go to a pistol gas 16″ barrel. That thing eats up the subsonics like candy and spits em out like chewing tobacco. I guess that’s what I’ll do with this guy if I can’t get it to cycle. Although that defeats the purpose of being a “Poor man’s Blackout” I guess.

                        I’d recommend a magnum primer and a start load of like 18 gr of H4831.  Work up or down from there.

                          I got a PM about 4895. Looks pretty good @ 12.1g. It’s 100fps faster than subsonic, but it should, according to my theory anyway, cycle the AR. Also 2/3 of the powder is burnt.

                            anyone doing any shooting yet. Getting anywhere with this? I got my mold yesterday and will cast some up tomorrow. One though too and id don’t know how much ill gain is if were only pushing these at 1100 fps we don’t need hard alloys. What I will do is cast out of 5050 pure/ww , pc them and water drop them out of the oven. that way you might gain a couple more grains of weight in the finished bullet. Ill do two coats of pc and water drop after the second. Again to gain a tiny bit of weight and also to insure a good coating. this bullet is so close to being able to be shot subsonic that I wonder if we didn’t screw up and maybe should have looked at a 110 grain bullet instead. I know that would about make it mandatory to have a 1 in 7 twist but that’s the twist of the gun I’m going to shoot these out of anyway. I think youd be about wasting your time with anything slower twisted.

                              I’ve been fooling around a little but need to take the chronograph out to see what kind of speeds are being achieved.  The chronograph doesn’t work in the indoor range

                                got something done today. Got about 500 of them casted and the first coat of pc on them. Should be able to finish the bullets tommarow but then ive got some other things I have to do the next couple days after that.

                                  first major hurdle and it might be a game ender. I was working with wc852 which is similar to 4831 but a ball powder. this was in only one of my ARs a colt 1-7 twist and if it doesn’t work in this one its probably not worth even bothering in my others as there 1-8 and 1-9 guns. I first tried 11 which was subsonic no ejection up to 14 which was super sonic and no ejection. the major problem I have is chambering. Even running the bolt from locked back they don’t want to chamber. I’m sure its due to the 225 sized bullet. I think to even get an honest start a guy is going to have to size to 223 to get them to run. that and after 4 shots the chamber was so cruddy the bullets wouldn’t even chamber far enough to have the bullet be the cause of the problem. Now that’s a ball powder and it might be just that its going to be more dirty then a stick powder at low pressures. Another problem with cast that that guy got this to work with jacketed didn’t face is bullet seating. You about HAVE to flare the case to seat a bullet without damage. Then you have to get rid of the flare for chambering. I was fooling with a lee factory crimp die to iron out the flare and its a real fine line between ironing out the flare and bulging the neck even more then the oversized bullets already  do. But this first attempt didn’t leave me feeling good about this project. Might have to buck up and buy myself one of those threaded 16 inch ruger americans to play with instead. Don’t know if they use a twist that will work with this long bullet or not though.

                                    I sized mine down to 225 and had no problems chambering them.  The flaring I did was minimal.  What oal did you end up using?
